Strategic Tension Optimize Today ↔ Shape the Future

  1. 01 Starting point

A staffing company wanted to understand early on what changes AI would bring to the industry, its internal processes and the way it will work in the future.

At first, the focus was not on introducing a specific tool, but on the question: What does AI change for our business – and where does that create relevant fields of action?

  2. 02 Strategic tension

    Optimize TodayShape the Future

    The leadership question

Which decisions can we sensibly automate – and where do experience, context and human judgment remain decisive?

The company faced a typical transformation question: How much attention should go to new AI possibilities today, when concrete applications and technological developments are not yet fully foreseeable?

  3. 03 Intervention

    1. Awareness building
    2. Putting technological developments into context
    3. Identifying possible fields of action
    4. Further developing a concrete use case

In a joint workshop, management and parts of the team were made aware of the changes AI brings. Technological developments were put into context, possible effects on the company discussed and first fields of application considered. This created a shared foundation early on for later AI initiatives.

  4. 04 Decision

Move AI step by step from a future topic into an operational process.

Instead of introducing individual AI tools right away, the topic was first observed and developed strategically. Today, building on this foundation, the company is working on an automated workflow for workforce scheduling.

  5. 05 Result

An automated workflow for workforce scheduling is taking shape.

The early engagement with AI has turned into a concrete transformation project. Since the workflow is still in development, no business results are deliberately stated here yet.

What this example shows

Early orientation creates the prerequisite for later translating technological developments into concrete applications that are relevant to your own business model.
